Hi, I'm Katie. I'm 31 years old and have returned to making my own website for the first time in 16 years.
I never thought I'd be able to create a website again, as I wasn't sure where to start once Piczo.com had been taken down. I used to run a website dedicated to tutorials for others to create their own cute websites. It included custom fonts (smallfonts was the coolest) and spacing, with huge scene kid graphics and multi-coloured scroll bars.
I learnt HTML and CSS from other girls online. They taught me how to use scroll boxes, display cute retro cursors, and how to 'box' things neatly and tidily. I really admired the girls who had minimalist but pop-art style sites with inspirational quotes, graphic wallpapers, and extremely small features. A big CRT monitor displaying, in 800 x 600, a repeating fluorescent pink diagonal stipe across the full screen - tiled, of course - with a teensy tiny little text box in the middle that said 'enter' -> the epitome of chic.
This site is my attempt at 'unplugging' from social media, pre-determined 'customisation', and the endless scroll. I hope I keep it up!
